Confit Cookbook ("Confit", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Data you provide directly:

• Recipes: Recipes you scan, import, or create are stored locally on your device.
• Photos: Images captured via your camera or selected from your photo library are used solely to scan or illustrate recipes. Photos are processed on-device and are not uploaded to our servers.
• Account information: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address to create your account and enable cloud backup.

Data collected automatically:

• Usage data: We may collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., which features are used most) to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
• Device identifiers: A random device identifier may be used for anonymous analytics. This is not linked to your identity.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the app's functionality
• To process recipes via OCR scanning (on-device and via Google's Gemini API)
• To enable cloud backup via Google Drive or iCloud
• To improve the app through anonymous usage analytics

Recipe Scanning & AI Processing

When you scan a recipe, the image may be sent to Google's Gemini API for text extraction. Google processes this data according to their privacy policy. We do not store your images on any server — they are sent directly from your device to Google's API and discarded after processing.

Cloud Backup

If you enable cloud backup, your recipes are stored in your personal Google Drive or iCloud account. We do not have access to your cloud storage — the data is stored in your own account and encrypted in transit.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except:

• Google Gemini API: For recipe text extraction (images are not retained)
• Firebase Authentication: For sign-in functionality
• As required by law: If compelled by legal process

Data Storage & Security

Your recipes are stored locally on your device using an encrypted database. If you use cloud backup, data is encrypted in transit. We do not operate our own servers that store your personal data.

Your Rights

• Access & export: All your recipes are accessible directly in the app
• Deletion: You can delete any recipe at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all local data
• Account deletion: You can delete your account from the app's settings, which removes all associated data

Children's Privacy

Confit is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not contain ads or in-app purchases.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
